Good morning, Y’all! Let’s talk about something we all know deep down—when a woman prays, things happen! Now, I don’t mean to throw us men under the bus, but the truth is, sometimes our prayers seem to hit the ceiling and bounce right back down. But the women? Oh, the women get answers!

Now, before the men start getting defensive, let me be clear—this isn’t about men being less important. It’s about recognizing that God, in His wisdom, built women differently. And He built them tough. Can I get an “Amen” from the ladies?

Equality is a Man-Made Idea—God Values Difference

The world today talks a lot about equality and equity, but let’s be real—God never designed men and women to be identical. Different? Yes. Complementary? Absolutely. Equal in value? Of course! But equal in role? Not at all.

Think about it—God made Adam first, but even God looked at that man and said, “It is not good for man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). And every married man here knows exactly why! So what did God do? He made a helper. And before anyone gets caught up on that word, understand that “helper” in Hebrew (‘ezer) is the same word used for God as our helper. Women were not created as an afterthought; they were created as a necessary part of God’s plan.

And what does this mean for our sermon today? Well, maybe—just maybe—because women were built to help, manage, endure, and support, God made sure that when they called on Him, He listened!

Women Pray, God Answers

Let’s look at some examples of women who prayed and got an answer. But let’s also ask—why? Why did God respond to them? What was it about their prayers?

1. Hannah (1 Samuel 1:9-20) – Answered Because of Humility and Commitment

Hannah was desperate for a child. She had been ridiculed, she had been mocked, and she was heartbroken. But what did she do?

  • She went straight to God—not to her husband, not to the priest, not to the local gossip circle.
  • She prayed from the heart—so deeply that Eli thought she was drunk!
  • She made a vow—if God gave her a son, she would give him back to the Lord.

And God answered her. Why? Because she didn’t pray for selfish reasons; she prayed for a blessing she could give back to God.

2. Hagar (Genesis 21:15-19) – Answered Because of Desperation and Dependence on God

Hagar was a single mother cast out into the wilderness. She had no money, no home, and no hope. Her child was dying of thirst, and she cried out to God.

  • She didn’t pray for riches.
  • She didn’t pray for revenge.
  • She prayed for survival.

And God answered—not because she had power or influence, but because He is a God who sees (Genesis 16:13).

3. The Canaanite Woman (Matthew 15:21-28) – Answered Because of Perseverance and Faith

This woman wasn’t even Jewish, yet she had the nerve to ask Jesus to heal her daughter. And at first, Jesus didn’t answer. But did she give up? No!

  • When Jesus ignored her, she kept asking.
  • When He tested her faith, she humbled herself.
  • When He said, “It’s not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs,” she said, “Even the dogs eat the crumbs.”

And Jesus said, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.”

4. Elizabeth (Luke 1:13) – Answered Because of Righteousness and God’s Timing

Elizabeth and Zechariah had prayed for a child for years. And when it seemed like it was too late, an angel appeared and said, “Your prayer has been heard.”

  • She and her husband had been faithful.
  • She never let bitterness take over.
  • And when the time was right, God answered.

When Men’s Prayers Went Unanswered

Now, let’s contrast this with some men who prayed and didn’t get an answer:

  • King Saul (1 Samuel 28:6) – Prayed for guidance, but God was silent. Why? Disobedience.
  • Balaam (Numbers 22:12-20) – Prayed about something God already said no to. Instead of getting a blessing, he got a talking donkey.
  • Moses (Deuteronomy 3:23-26) – Begged God to let him enter the Promised Land. God basically told him, “Enough already. Stop asking.”

What’s the difference? These men prayed with disobedience, stubbornness, or pride. The women prayed with humility, faith, perseverance, and trust in God’s timing.

Women Were Built for Perseverance—So God Honors It

Let’s be real: if men had to do everything women did in biblical times, civilization might not have made it past Genesis.

Women ran the household—

  • They handled finances (Proverbs 31 says the virtuous woman buys fields and plants vineyards).
  • They managed human resources (hiring and directing servants).
  • They educated children.
  • They kept the husband from starving.
  • And somehow, they still found time to pray.

If you’re wondering why God always answers a woman’s prayer, maybe it’s because He knows she’s praying for things that keep the world running.

Closing Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the women in our lives—the wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters who carry so much responsibility and yet still find time to seek You. Help us all, men and women alike, to pray with the kind of faith that moves mountains. And Lord… if my wife prays for something, go ahead and answer quickly. It’ll make life easier for all of us. Amen!

Learn from the Women Who Pray

Here’s the challenge:

  • Men—pray with humility. If you’ve been too proud to get on your knees, take a lesson from Hannah. Pour out your heart before God.
  • Women—keep praying. If you’ve been waiting on an answer, don’t give up. Be like the Canaanite woman—keep asking, keep knocking.
  • Everyone—trust God’s timing. Maybe you’re like Elizabeth, and you’ve been waiting for years. Stay faithful.

And finally—let’s stop praying like Saul, Balaam, and Moses when he got stubborn. Let’s pray like Hannah, Hagar, and the Canaanite woman. Because when a woman prays—heaven listens!

God bless you!
