Good morning! Today, I want to take you on a journey. And no, we’re not boarding a plane, but we are heading to the airport—because that’s where today’s message begins!
I don’t know about you, but I love airports. There’s something magical about them. The lights, the sounds of luggage wheels rolling across the floor, the sizzling food on the grill, the intoxicating mix of Starbucks coffee and something suspiciously greasy. And, of course, the people—so many people, all in transition from one place to another.
It reminds me of something very profound: everyone has a story. Everyone is on a journey. And in all of it, whether they know it or not, God is present.
1: God’s Presence in Every Life
You see, as believers, we often remind ourselves of this beautiful truth: when we profess our faith in Jesus and are born again, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us (John 14:16-17). That’s amazing! We are literally walking temples of the living God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
But sometimes, we forget something equally important: God is not absent from the lives of unbelievers.
Psalm 139:7-10 reminds us:
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.”
Did you catch that? Even if someone is running from God, He is still at work in their life. He is still the one allowing them to experience joy, laughter, love, and yes—even the pleasure of a hot, overpriced airport pretzel.
2: The Universal Battle – God’s Work vs. the Enemy’s Influence
Now, let’s address the other reality: not everything in this world is good. While God is present in every life, He is not the source of the sin, pain, and destruction we see around us.
That honor goes to the enemy of our souls. Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), while Jesus comes that we may have life and have it abundantly. The struggles, addictions, pain, and suffering people endure? They are not from God. But—and this is the good news—God is greater!
Romans 8:28 gives us hope:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
That means even in the mess, even in a delayed flight, a lost suitcase, or a turbulent storm, God is still working.
3: The Only Way to the Father is Through Jesus
Now, let’s tackle something big: the world loves to say, “Whatever you believe is true for you.” That sounds nice, doesn’t it? It’s warm, fuzzy, and comfortable—kind of like a neck pillow on a long flight.
But it’s not biblical.
Jesus makes it very clear in John 14:6:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
No one. Not the frequent flyer in first class, not the person sprinting to their gate, not the guy who somehow still doesn’t know how TSA works. If they don’t come through Jesus, they don’t get to the Father.
Truth is not subjective. Truth is a person—Jesus Christ.
4: Our Mission – Sharing the Gospel
So, what do we do with this? Well, imagine you’re in an airport, and you hear an important announcement:
“Attention, passengers! The only way to your destination is through Gate J-3 (Jesus 3:16). All other paths lead nowhere.”
Wouldn’t you want to tell people? If you saw someone about to board a flight to nowhere, wouldn’t you warn them? That’s exactly what we’re called to do.
Romans 10:14 asks us a challenging question:
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
We are that someone. We are the ones called to tell people that the ticket has already been paid for, that Jesus is the way, and that their destination can be eternal life with Him.
Closing
So, as you go about your week, I want you to see the world like an airport. See the people around you as travelers on their way to an eternal destination. Some are lost. Some are confused. Some are heading the wrong way.
But you know the way.
Will you help them find it?
Let’s pray.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being present in every life, even when we don’t see it. Thank You for the joy and beauty You bring, and thank You for sending Jesus to be the only way to You. Give us boldness to share the Gospel, wisdom to speak truth, and love to reach those who don’t yet know You. Help us to be lights in this world, guiding others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Thought:
Church, let’s go out there and be like those enthusiastic flight attendants—you know, the ones who make safety demonstrations fun. Let’s make the Gospel so clear, so compelling, and so full of joy that people can’t help but pay attention.
And remember—your mission field might just be at Gate C12.
